How to Make a Hula Hoop Photo Frame

Hey Loves! After a busy month preparing for my daughter’s graduation and her Backyard Grad Party, I’m so happy to be back.

If you’re looking for creative ways to showcase photos for a graduation party or birthday party, well I’ve got an awesome and super easy DIY for you today! This is such a fun way to showcase your photos on a main wall or over a dessert table like I did. So let’s get to it!

You will need:

To begin, find an outdoor space that is well ventilated, I used my backyard. Spray paint the hula hoop gold on one side. Let dry about 30 minutes. Repeat this step on the other side.DIY HULA HOOP PHOTO FRAME

Print out your photos onto photo paper. We cropped it to a square format about 4.5” wide, but you could also use a smaller size. For a more nostalgic vibe, use black and white photos!

Next, cut 5 strands of ribbon to be about 2” longer than the diameter of the hoop. Lay the hula hoop on a flat surface and lay out the ribbons on the hoop. Adjust the position until they are evenly spaced. Hot glue the ribbons in place on the backside of the hoop. Make sure to pull the ribbon tight as you glue. For this step I asked my daughter to help pull so it would not be loose on the other end.

Lay out the photos on the ribbons and arrange them the way you prefer. Start from the center and work your way out, making sure they are evenly spaced. Use a dab of hot glue to attach each photo to the ribbon (or use glue dots for a less permanent option).

Glue or Tie your favorite string or ribbon to the top of the hula hoop.  Using 2 Command Hooks, hang the photo frame hoop on the wall or from the ceiling. I did want to add flowers and foliage but since I was limited on time, I will add them another time. Keep a look out for our next DIY Blog for the floral version.
